What Drives Us
Mission
Our mission is to give serious collectors a trustworthy system of record for their physical media, structured as a category-aware archive that preserves the relationships and distinctions collectors rely on.
Problem
Serious collectors struggle to manage diverse collections within data models that assume all recordings follow a simple “artist–album” structure, even though many categories do not. Classical recordings, soundtracks, comedy, and popular music are all cataloged and referenced differently, forcing collectors to work around limitations rather than accurately capturing ownership, relationships, and the distinctions that define a meaningful archive.
Solution
We solve this by building an ownership-first, category-aware archive that adapts to how different types of recordings are actually understood. Instead of forcing a single structure, Sides allows collectors to capture ownership, relationships, and distinctions in archivist-defined ways that reflect each category, supported by assistive tools that align with how each person understands and organizes their collection.
